CONCORDIUM
Containing Calgary’s Council Chambers for Centuries
“We dance round in a ring and suppose,
But the Secret sits in the middle and knows.”
- Robert Frost

Civic Corridor
-
Concordium
At the summit of Campbell’s Hill, Calgarian’s Concordium rises as a beacon of vision and unity. It is more than a City Hall — it is the heart of civic life, where leaders, scholars, innovators, and citizens converge. Your Concordium contains a council chamber for centuries, it embodies Calgary’s resilience and ambition, watching over the city for generations to come.

Confluence Park
Where the Bow and Elbow Rivers meet, culture, nature, and history intertwine. The Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark, Fort Calgary, and Tom Campbell’s Hill — crowned by the Concordium — are united in a living network of learning and discovery. This is a place where ideas flow like the rivers themselves, connecting communities, sparking curiosity, and inspiring the future.

Calgary's Civic Corridor
From the Concordium in Confluence Park to the Stampede Grounds, a vibrant corridor links governance, education, and culture with a seamless people-moving system. The Old City Hall becomes a National Museum of Truth and Reconciliation, and the Municipal Building transforms into one of Canada’s leading education and health care university facilities. The Calgary Public Library, BMO Centre, Victoria Park, and the new Event Centre bring energy, knowledge, and world-class events, uniting Calgarians, Albertan, and Canada and welcoming the world.
Heritage Bison Herd
At Confluence Park
The Heritage Bison Herd at Confluence Park is a landmark initiative developed in partnership with the City of Calgary, the Calgary Zoological Society, the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Olds College. Designed to revolutionize the Wild Canada zone, the project expands rotating municipal pastures to include key areas of the Civic Corridor, ensuring the bison are no longer hidden but visible as a living emblem of Calgary’s natural heritage. These carefully planned rotations provide varied grazing, enhance animal well-being, and create dynamic visitor experiences.
Guided by innovations in animal behaviour and welfare — including principles pioneered by Temple Grandin — the initiative fosters environments that reduce stress, encourage natural behaviours, and deepen public understanding of these iconic animals.
By combining veterinary excellence, agricultural expertise, conservation leadership, and Indigenous knowledge, the Heritage Bison Herd attracts global visitors, educates Calgarians, and ensures that science, culture, and community converge in a shared vision for wildlife stewardship.
